Up Close and Personal
Sidney is a Chicago native and a recent high school graduate. As an advocate for the environment, Sydney uses her platform to act and educate on simple ways of reducing the use of single-use plastics with a special focus on plastic straws. She is an active leader of park, and beach clean-ups, including the recent International Coastal Clean-Up, held on September 15, 2019, at Loyola Beach. WGN TV has captured Sydney's participation in previous clean-ups and climate strikes, among others. She's also passionate about educating young people on how they can play a role in caring for the environment and has founded a program titled Sydneys SOS (Stance on Sustainability). As such, she makes educational appearances at elementary, pre-school, and scouting organizations where screens the STRAWS documentary, does environmental book readings, and leads discussions on plastic reduction.
